SPIRITUALITY
Purpose: As a Catholic school, religion is a key factor in St. Anne’s
educational foundation. Each student has religious instruction as part of their
daily schedule. This instruction includes the fundamentals of Faith, prayers,
and an understanding of Christian values. The religion program includes
participation in Mass, Benediction, Stations of the Cross and May Crowning.
Sacramental programs are provided under the direction of the pastor, the
religious education coordinator and the teachers.
Normally, reception of the sacrament of First Holy Communion is done in the
second grade. Confirmation is celebrated in the eighth grade. Informative
sessions are scheduled for parents of students in these sacramental programs.
Community Service: Seventh and eighth graders are required to do community
service. Service hours for these students are a combined total of 30 hours.
Opportunities for service hours include volunteering at the annual St. Anne
festival, helping the elderly and/or sick, volunteering time at parish or school
functions and being active in the Service Learning program, etc. Make sure to
have the proper documentation filled out and signed by the appropriate
organization leader for credit. For example, certificates are given to all
students who work the festival. Please see the chairperson of the area you work
in to receive your certificate or see Sheri Yanik if you have any questions. If
you volunteer at other functions, please have a note or certificate that states
when and where you worked as well as how many hours you performed and make sure
it is signed by the appropriate person in charge.
