Our goal at St. Anne is to provide developmentally appropriate experiences in a Catholic environment to encourage each child to develop his/her own capabilities. Children are encouraged to be independent, make decisions, explore, discover, be creative, and solve problems. We strive to educate the whole child, and we support the spiritual, cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth of each child. Each child is an individual and a gift from God.
Our preschool and pre-kindergarten teachers nurture each child’s natural curiosity for learning and encourage self-motivation and independence. We nurture Catholic faith development in each child.
THREE YEAR OLD PRESCHOOL PROGRAM
We intend to make your child’s first school experience a happy one, which will promote positive attitudes toward school and learning. Our three-year-old program focuses on socialization and learning through play. We promote and encourage interest in socializing, imaginative play, group activities, and solitary play. Our preschool program helps each child to become aware of others in relationship to themselves. Preschoolers will develop independence, social skills, and communication skills. We nurture a love of learning in our three-year-old preschoolers and prepare them for pre-kindergarten.
FOUR YEAR OLD PRE-KINDERGARTEN
Our pre-kindergarten program is designed to prepare your child for kindergarten in a nurturing, Catholic environment. The St. Anne pre-kindergarten program combines hands-on, whole group, small group, and independent activities to meet each child’s needs. We follow standards set by the Archdiocese of Detroit and the State of Michigan to prepare our children for kindergarten. Our classroom provides learning experiences in Catholic religion, fine and gross motor skills, creative arts, language, science, social studies, math, reading readiness, beginning phonics, music, and social and emotional development. Our students learn daily prayers and also attend Mass once a week with the rest of the school. Each week, pre-kindergarten learns a letter and a nursery rhyme or fairy tale. Pre-K also studies a Catholic religion theme and a science or social studies theme each week. Songs, stories, projects, games, manipulative, and activities are some of the ways that these concepts are taught to pre-kindergarten children. We perform assessments with your child throughout the year to measure his/her progress. Conferences are also held twice a year to discuss your child’s progress in our classroom. You are welcome to request a meeting with your child’s teacher at any time the need arises.
Dress Code
The dress code for the 3-year old Preschool and 4-year old Pre-Kindergarten programs will consist of children wearing blue pants and a white or green polo shirt with the St. Anne crest. Girls also have the option of wearing a blue, or St. Anne jumper, skirt/skort with a white blouse, knee socks and/or tights. Boys have the option of wearing the polo with a crest, or a plain white, button down dress shirt. Tennis shoes are acceptable as well as brown or black shoes.
Snack
Healthy snacks and milk are provided each morning and afternoon. If a child has special dietary needs or food allergies, it is important to notify the teacher, and parents may provide the child’s snack.
Lunch and Rest Time
Our full day students may order hot lunches or pack lunches. After lunch, the children go to recess and then take rests and relax on cots. Each child has his/her own cot and may bring a blanket, a pillow, and a stuffed animal.

Purpose: As a Catholic school, religion is a key factor in St. Anne’s educational foundation. Each student has religious instruction as part of their daily schedule. This instruction includes the fundamentals of Faith, prayers, and an understanding of Christian values. The religion program includes participation in Mass, Benediction, Stations of the Cross and May Crowning.
Sacramental programs are provided under the direction of the pastor, the religious education coordinator and the teachers.
Normally, reception of the sacrament of First Holy Communion is done in the second grade. Confirmation is celebrated in the eighth grade. Informative sessions are scheduled for parents of students in these sacramental programs.
St. Anne’s Religious Education Program will begin in September. Classes will be held at the usual time: Mondays, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m in the Junior High building.
Tuition convers both the First Communion and Confirmation sessions. There will be an additional fee for Communion Share-A-Meal, banner and books. There is also extra fees for the Confirmation Retreat and robe.
First Communion is always the last Sunday of April. Confirmation is usually in April or May. The Archdiocese determines the Confirmation date, and that has not been decided yet.
All new families to this program are required to fill out a registration form with payment by September.
Please contact Debbie Hathaway at dhathaway@st-anne.net for more information.
The resources on the protpage are a collection of websites that have been either created or identified as useful, in supporting parents and students across all curriculum areas.
The St. Anne Knowledge Nook will continuously be updated to reach out and provide the latest news, information, and free learning support for the whole family!
“Artsonia is a safe place to upload and store student artwork, promotes student pride and self-esteem, and is a chance for families to get involved in student art education. The site also offers a gift shop where student artwork can be printed on items such as cards, key chains, etc. Through this gift shop, the school receives 20% back on whatever is purchased.” (Arstonia.com)
You must have a screen name and parent code specific to that student which is provided by your art teacher. A parent needs to give the art teacher permission to post their work by going online and entering this parent code. If you have any questions please contact the art teacher.
This is an exciting new opportunity for students as well as a great school fundraising program. Please have a look at the site and stay posted for your little artists work!
Thank you for your support!
St. Anne’s offers a unique opportunity to include both a general music program (Kindergarten-8th grade) and band, which together is comparable to any public middle school program. Music is a performing art and band students who perform in band regularly develop self-expression and creativity through performance. Through our class performances taught by a qualified band instructor, we will build our character as a person.
4th – 8th Grade Band Curriculum
Band meets two days a week during lunch period to work on building our coordination by using method book, scales, and concert music. Students who are interested in band can sign up at the beginning of the school year.
An annual band concert is performed by all participating students in the Spring.
Parents have the option to purchase instruments for their children or they can rent an instrument for the year. There are several music stores in the area that provide this service.
They should complete three Christian Service Projects:
1. Service project dealing with FAMILY (10 hours)
2. Service project dealing with COMMUNITY (10 hours)
3. Service project dealing with CHURCH (10 hours)
Opportunities for service hours include: volunteering at the annual St. Anne festival; helping the elderly and/or sick; volunteering time at parish or school functions; being active in the Service Learning program; go on errands for a neighbor; visit nursing homes; go to a soup kitchen and help; assist St. Vincent de Paul; write letters to government officials about justice issues; help with fundraising projects; perform special services for the disabled; work at a food bank; collect toys for the poor children, etc.
Make sure to have the proper documentation filled out and signed by the appropriate organization leader for credit (please see Service Verification Form.) For example, certificates are given to all students who work the festival. Please see the chairperson of the area you work in to receive your certificate or see the office if you have any questions. If you volunteer at other functions, please have a note or certificate that states when and where you worked as well as how many hours you performed and make sure it is signed by the appropriate person in charge.
Please download the form below and make sure you have it signed by the appropriate organization leader for credit.
Circle of Grace is meant to supplement and be integrated into our religion classes. It aims to equip children with essential knowledge and skills grounded in the richness of the Catholic faith. This program helps children to understand their own (and other’s) dignity in mind, body, and spirit. Our teachers are to assist our students in recognizing each of us lives and moves within a circle of grace.
Circle of Grace teaches that God has created each one of us as special – we are meant to respect ourselves and others.
Circle of Grace is neither a sex education nor stranger – danger course. It is a Catholic course that helps children understand the sacredness of who they are and how to seek help through relationships with trusted adults.
If you have additional questions, please contact your child’s teacher. If you still have questions, you may contact the principal. And finally, you may contact the Archdiocese of Detroit, Office for Safe Environments. A parent may refuse to allow their children to participate. If you do not wish them to be a part of this program, please let the principal know in writing.
